General Conference Weekend

Don't you just love General Conference? I feel like it comes around exactly when I need it each year. It is the perfect time to be uplifted. Spring is so renewing in that way. (Especially when it finally stops snowing which it hasn't quite figured out how to do down here).

This last weekend Mom, Craig, Carlee, Colton, Grandma and Grandpa all came down for conference. And can you believe I didn't take a single picture?? That is how involved I am with my family. I was too busy enjoying the time with them. Josh always says that I am the happiest when I am surrounded by family. I believe it because I feel it.
Carlee and Colton had never been to the Conference center before so it was a great experience for both of them. Aunt Julie was able to get tickets from Aunt Lisa who works in the First Presidencys office. (yeah....we are just cool like that, you know.... connections). We had two tickets to each session on Saturday, tickets for all the boys for priesthood session and 8 tickets to Sunday Afternoon. Since the girls wanted to shop on Saturday Criag, Colton and Grandpa went to conference ALL DAY Saturday. And they loved every minute of it. Since there were only two tickets one had to watch it in the tabernacle each time.
The girls stayed at home and thanks to Aunt Julie we stayed occupied with some stitching patterns. I forgot how much I like to do things like that. It actually made the time go so fast and I was able to focus on the talks so much more. I loved it. Before, in between and after conference Aunt Julie, Mom and Grandma went shopping. Surprised? Really? Don't be!
Wow.... that is all I have to say. I mean I knew they were shopaholics in ever sense of the word but this was crazy. They shopped until I dropped and then kept going leaving me there to die. They came back ever so often to make sure I was hydrated but that was as far as the mercy went. Haha! Im teasing. No really though.... wow. (I had Carlee to keep me company... for the first shopping trip anyways...the second one I wasn't so lucky!)
(<--- Thats me)
Get this. (It must be a Utah thing). In between the Saturday afternoon session and Priesthood session they had Priesthood session SALES. HAHA! Weird? A little! But Im not complaining and I didn't see so much as a hesitation from the other girls so we went for it. The only place I was really excited to go to was Rodworks. You can get one item for 50% off. I love looove that store! The line was wrapped all the way around the store but it left some bonding time for mom and I... in line at the store.... since it was really one of few times I wasn't chasing them around the mall. Just kidding mom. It was a lot of fun.
Well since Aunt Lisa was so generous the boys had amazing seats at Preisthood session. I'm talking 8th row here. Colton got a hug from Elder Nelson. I think that night made his life. What a great experience. I am so glad they were all able to go together. It was good bonding time for Colton, Josh, Caig and Grandpa.
Saturday night we had a Pizza party and then a bunch of cousins and relatives came over for dessert. It was fun to see Aunt Lorna and Aunt Deanna again. It has been a little while. Josh and I with Carlee and Colton snuck down to the basement and had a crack up looking up funny Youtube videos. We were down there a long time!! ha! We got caught because we were laughing so loud haha.
Sunday morning we all watched conference together at home and then drove to Salt Lake for the afternoon session. Uncle Bill and his wife sat in one section, Grandpa, Grandma and Josh and I had seats on the Terrace, Mom, Craig and the kids sat on the floor pretty dang close to the front. There were so many people but no worries! We found them when we called Colton and had him wave his neon orange cast. We actually spotted them. ha! Good times! That was a lot of fun as well. The talks were so good! I love LOVE going to conference. It is so easy to feel the spirit and to take in the music and the prinicples.
Unless of course someone below the terrace right in your line of sight throws up, then the hole section tends to be a little bit distracted. Yes that happened! Far enough away to not be gross but close enough to watch lol. I think we were more entertained watching them clean up then listening to the speaker. Oops! I will have to go back and read that one.
I worked Monday morning and then went shopping (yes shopping again) with mom and Aunt Julie. Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Bill left monday morning. I needed girl bonding time. It was nice.
Tuesday was my 21st Birthday!! What better way to spend a birthday that surrounded by family?? Well... nothing other than to eat delicious BBQ at the same time!
Texas Roadhouse!!! Mmm!
I invited Uncle Roger, Aunt Chris and Brandon as well! It was great to see them and catch up! They could not fit us all at one table but it was so much fun. Josh's parents, his brother JJ and his girlfriend Lynn all came too. It was fun to catch up and boy was the food ever good!! Oh, and they made me sit on a saddle. But I did it the classy way and side saddled that thing so it was all good. Made for good memories.
